Housing in Bochum is run by Akafo, the student organisation for Bochum's universities, offering studios, shared flats and units for couples and families. The university notes that living costs and rents in Bochum are low
• Strong programmes: 21 faculties covering natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medicine, the humanities and social sciences, all on one campus. Exchange students can mix courses across faculties, and through the UA Ruhr alliance also with universities in Dortmund, and in Duisburg and Essen.
